7/20 New Salmon Queen Farllons Islands rock fishing

Man, Emeryville was crowded this morning. All the boats were packed by what I saw. NSQ was loaded too. There was a DFG biologist that was going to jump on to gather rock fish info but there was no room for him catch a ride. Cool guy too, I was bummed he didn't make it on cuz I wanted to pick his brain.

Anywho. My brother in law and I jumped on this trip last minute decision. And I'm glad we did. Had a lot of fun catching nice fish. I tried jigs, plastic, and live bait. Caught my 1 keeper ling on a bass plastic tube. The best over all killer was a double dropper loop live bait (anchovies). Caught something like 5 other short lings and a bunch of rock fish bouncing it on the bottom. The jack pot ling was caught on a fish trap right in close to the islands! Looked like it may have been 12 pounder. Heres some pics.

The Farlons close up.

Shim and Tom.

Bag of fish.

The jackpot fish.

Quil back.

And an olive.

Mike got a chucklehead that flopped around after a filet was taken.

Line was out the door and down the side walk in the morning. Notice anything? I'm guessing Randy was here... or was it someone else?

Thanks for the report. It has been years...yikes decades since I have fished the Farlons good to see they are still being worked for some sea creatures.

I thought it was proper to name change cuz im not cool with the place that named me that, or vise versa, really its mutual I think

Good luck out there!! Say hi to them all for me! Tell Stellman hes a tard and we need to fish sometime!

The reason we were so close is cuz DFG changed the rules for rock fishing. You can only fish 120' of water I think. The lings are their its just tuff targeting them specifically.

The Striper and Halibut bite has been going off! I hope it holds for you guys!! I hope ya win!!
