Quit smoking..go fishing!! La Concita 9/16

I quit smoking this week... we have a baby on the way. I guess I've been a real bear to get along with so the wife told me get out and fish!!

I was on the shore by 6.30am it was cooler this morning but the water is still warm. I started about 100 yds north of the bridge to the island. Dead low tide turning in..I was chuckin the same bait Kalin's 2" grub Motoroil, gold flake .. The 1st 15 mins nada and then the bite was on... Good solid BSP's, real nice slabs.. no peck peck here. They slammed it and went. By 8.30 I was working on my 2nd limit and no dinks yet. The bite slowed by 9am.. I moved a couple of times and nothing. I decided it was time for a case of "stinkfinger" and broke out the Gulp worms... New Penny cut in 1 1/2 inch pieces then skin hooked. The bite picked back up but to just one or two here and there for another dozen. The tide was pretty rough by 11.00 I had changed to a 3/4 oz. sinker and it was still all over the place so I called it a day.

The excitement of the day was some serious schooly action goingh on off-shore from about 100 to about 300 yds... I could not tell what they were but very large fish were breaching the surface and getting airborne and the bait was flying. Alot of birds and silver flashes from the big fish.

Also some poor dude's boat came unmoored and washed up on the shore transom facing the 101 almost to the rocks. It's right by the legal U-turn. Looked like about a 24-26 SkipJack type boat.

Pics to follow....I gotta clean the camera..it's full of sand.

It's hard to quit the smokes..The smell on the cloths and everything else did it for me..but that was years ago..As Creekster says..Fishing will cure all.. Thanks for the report..

Thanks for all of the encouragement guys....I'm still having problems with the camera... I got sand in the cable port and can't make connection.

Does anyone have info on the boat that was beached? I was gonna talk to the guy while I was there... but he did not look like he was in a chatty mood....
