THE BRIDS

Well after seeing all the bird action all week at and around the B-Hole and some rumors of BUTTS being caught Ross (gordo grande) and I tried tap'n the hole for some BUTT's but all we found were BRIDS LOTS & LOTS of BRIDS , we did mange to catch a jack keep the skun offsmelt a piece , also lost a few swimmies one to the rock GOD's and the other's bit clean off , so ther had to have been some sizeable fish lurking around ..

... ther were brid's diving on bait in 6 inches of water , the bait ball's and brid's were every where , havent seen any thing like that in some time , for a while both Ross and I would just stand ther watcing the brid's go NUT's DIVE BOMBING on the bait ball's , quite a sight that close to shore ..

THE BRIDS .....................

Oscar and I hit the “butt hole” in Santa Monica this morning. Not many fish, but lots and lots of birds!!! It looked like a scene from Alfred Hitchcock! There were thousands of birds in all directions, feasting on bait balls that were very tight into the beach. Some of the bait balls were right at our feet in the surf. I can’t ever remember seeing them in that close before. It made fishing difficult, but it was such an amazing sight that several times I just put my pole down and watched. The picture doesn’t do it justice.

We only managed to scratch out two smelt between the two of us. We also got checked by Officer Castro of the DFG. He didn’t ask for our drivers licenses, but he did look in our backpacks. He was a nice guy, and we thanked him for being out there.
