Ventura Pier and Ventura Surf report 4-11-2008

TIME: 11:00AM-7:30PM

BAIT: FRESH SHRIMP, MOTOR OIL AND RED FLAKE 2" GRUBS, SANDCRABS, GULP BLOOD WORMS, GULPS SANDWORMS.

TACKLE: TWO 7' LIGHT SPINNING RODS AND SPINNING REELS WITH 6 LB TEST. ALSO, TWO MEDIUM ACTION RODS WITH 10' AND 7FT ROD WITH 20 LB TEST.

SUMMARY: I caught most of my fish off the surf with Motor oll red flakes 2" grubs on a 1/2" oz egg sinker and #6 baitholder hook. The largest was a walley perch and three small barred perch. From the pier my friend was the one is was knocking them out with fresh shrimp on a two hook bait set up. Fishing close the pier was the trick to getting the perch to hit. She got about three before we left. Hope this helps. Take care from FishingBeast. Sorry no picture going to get a new camera down the road. Old one is bye bye

Thanks for the report. Glad to hear the pier is producing a few fish.

Nice report, fishingbeast.

I remember that you were one of the first people to show me how well those little grubs do for perch off the shallow end of the pier. That was way back in the summer of 2003 at the PFIC get-together at Goleta. Nice to see that you're still at it. Maybe we can hook up again one of these days. You should stop by PFIC once in a while and say Hi to Ken as well.
