LB Halibut

Went out one morning by myself to Long Beach in pursue for some butts. I couldn’t get bit for the longest time and finally got one bite and ended up being a legal halibut. It felt like a snag at first, until I start feeling some headshakes 10 seconds later. The fish taped out to be 27 inches and 10 lbs measured on my scale at home. It sure was a fat healthy mama.

On the side note, I want to give thanks to Terry for lending me his gaff for the fish. Normally, I’d just use the shore to ride it up to the sand and grab it by the tail. Since I was using 6# test only, I didn’t want to take the chance of losing it to the surf. I took his gaff and gaffed it. Viola!
