La Conchita and Seacliff report

Hit the water at La Conchita at 1st light. It's my 1st time there since the winter storms hit to really fish it. It was a washbowl, murky water and full of salad. I had one great hit and drag run on my 3rd cast on the KM. I could not turn it and it came unbuttoned. I gave it an hour more with the carolina rig and got 1 micro dink BSP.

I loaded up and went to Seacliff just north of Emma Wood, where the remanents of a concrete stair are. I don't know what you would call that particular place. It had alot of surfers coming and going. The breaks outside were building and the surf had a strong cross current., but it was fishable with minimal salad. It's real flat there and I never could make out any structure at all. Throwing the KM I had a few bumps and did see 2 nice wakes chasing behind it in the shallows, but no luck. I donned the Gulp and the carolina rig, but still no love. There were definitely fish there in the shallows you could see them . Maybe I needed live bait?

Anyway it is sorta depressing about La Conchita... It was a hot bite last year. I had many a 30+ fish days there last spring and summer. All of the structure is pretty much gone, the trough, the many deep holes along with half the beach missing too. Maybe by summer some of it will come back. My hat is off to everyone who caught fish today.

I was at La Conchita and sea cliff today as well. It was tough out there....

Lots of salad all up and down the coast.

We tried several spots and experienced the same results.

It should get better in the summer......
If you like fishing that area, give the Rincon a shot. After you get off the freeway and a 1/4 mile after you come out of the tunnel backup to the rocks and cast off the rocks, its best on a high tide. You don't have to get wet either.
