favorite halibut lures

What are the best halibut lures for the surf? Are plugs better than swimbaits? I'm going to give it a shot, just wondering what baits are being used.

3 inch Big Hammers work good, as well as a small Krocodile and large gold Kastmaster. As Tony said above, the Lucky Craft is the bomb, just don't leave your wallet at home.
Live bait works great too, if you have a way to keep them.

Sav-on in santa fe springs should have 'em but if not I find that ebay is place to get them esp if youre gonna get a few of em. The LCFM 110 Metalic Sardine is great but I sugest you get a variety of different colors and patterns. Good Luck!!!

...Oh if and when you find 'em buy extra treble hooks and put the clear coating thing on 'em to protect the paint from chipping. Good Luck again
