Every now and then I go to an antique flea market looking for vintage rods and reels. I like to clean them up, rewrap them if I have to, then take them out one last time.

I think it's a shame that someone once built the rod, then noone appreciates it anymore. Kind of like throwing art in a trashcan.

I have titanium guides, colored guides, cutom rods filling a wall and even marble my own stuff too.

It's just nice to take out an old boy fishing again. Rod handles like a tank and just powered the fish out. I used pure mono to not let braid cut up the guides. Reel was real funny too.

The drag goes either full force or no force. I didn't replace the drag, but did clean the reel, just trying to keep everything O.G. The old grease solidified and it took about 20 q-tips and a 3 rags to clean, grease and get to spin again.

If you cast too fast, then the bail slams shut.

Bait was a firetiger crawdad. Sometimes I take one claw off to make it look more like a ghost shrimp. My brother had suggested DuMong's shrimp scent, it's for freshwater. I should have tried a long time ago.
The crawdad have a strong plastic smell and you need to let then air out. Maybe boiling would help air it out???Then I let the scent sit for 3 days on the lures.
The fishing was very rewarding. Finding the rod and reel was easy, cleaning the reel took about 2 hours. Rod was $10 and reel was $7, new bait was about $4, but the experience of it was phenominal. No pancakes this time or it would have been priceless
Next time I fish it I think I'll wear a kango hat and adidas, and go real retro.
Lack of reports and activity has been because my computer fried and modem went out too. Up and running again.
