Carp. State Beach 8-3-08

I hit Carp. State Beach this morning at about 6:20 am after my 12 hour shift and there were already 2 guys fishing. They didnt seem to be having any luck, but I didnt expect any either since at 6 am the tide was at its lowest point. Anyway I started working the beach east of them with my typical carolina rig, #6 circle hook, and gulp Camo. I had several hits and hook ups but they kept coming off at about 8 feet in front of me, until I dropped the circle hook and switched over to a #4 "J" hook, and it was on!! I started catching Perch left and right. I know I pissed those guys off when I started working towards them and continued to catch fish while they didnt. I hopscotched over them and caught more. By then 2 other guys showed up and tried their luck. I noticed that they all had been watching me and even people walking by were stopping to watch me catch fish. Well as time went by they all got frustrated and left. If they had approached me I would of gladly shared my so called secrets. One guy walked up to within 7 feet of me but when I turned to greet him, he quickly turned around and walked off. Well it was now 9 am and an hour later then I normally fish when I have to go back to work that night so it was time for the final cast. This cast was the best cast of the day for whatever it was was fighting like a moster halibut. After fighting with it for who knows how long I was laughing out loud when I finally landed this monster halibut. I yelled out and turn around with my prize halibut but all the guys had left!! Bummer!! The final count was 25-30 Perch and 1 monster halibut. I hope I attached the picture correctly for all to see. I think I will go back this morning (Mon) and see if I can catch an even bigger halibut. Take care and be safe!! Cali Bear. GetAttachment.jpg
