Butterfly Beach
Hello, in from NY again for my week of family time on the west side.
Hit the suds with son (Chris), niece & nephews (Erich & Henrik.)
Fishing was sporadic as there were other issues and priorities, such as sandcastle building, numerous bird-nest tangles, snags & a very treacherous fly in niece’s drama.
The conditions were nice. High tide was at 11ish, waves were 2-3 feet, sun was just out after burning through the fog, not too weedy. Water was clean beyond the swash.
We were soaking `chovies which were cut in half on circle hooks on fish finder rigs and which were anchored to 7’ light tackle poles with 15lb test spider wire.
At about 12pm was our only encounter, a decent sized guitarfish. Mia helped me reel it in, and immediately went back to worrying about flies in her hair and ears…haha.
Attached should be a picture. Debating a return trip after dinner to see if anything’s a lurkin. Still fantasizing about getting a bat ray. Tight lines!
