Mandalay Beach (power plant)- 6:30pm to about 9:00pm

Well the power plant was on and so was da'fishin'. The weather was fair, and the winds were low. The water was a nice seagreen color today. Not bad since its been a dirty light brown color for weeks. The power plant was running as well (warm water). My bro Phill (aka Balonie) and I were getting hits all evening long. The current made things interesting at times, and a low tide gave us a chance to get our lines into deaper waters. With nothing but a few bites untill about 8pm, I finally got something. It took my line right out and down the surf. I was sure it was something huge because of how easy it took control at times. But as I got it into the breakers I saw it was a shovelnose and not the largest either. - not bad mind u. Turns out the current helped it out alot and really pulled one on me. Man I was soo sure it was the 6ft leopardshark that balonie and I have been after for months. But the shovelnose turned out to be nice and made for and exciting evening. ok.. man Im tired, haha..

Oh hang on... Im going to let him tell about it, but Balonie caught a yellowfin croaker today. I havent laughed that hard in a long time... no rig, no pole... haha, I will let him fishing this one...

Ok so the croaker story. We are just sitting there i had just pulled my line out and was done for the day. Nothing to go home with tonight, I thought I was skunked for sure. So we are standing in the surf, and there is something flopping around. I yelled at Mike, "Oh s##t there is a fish flopping in the surf." Mikes yelling at me you better catch that fish. So I go after the fish and i can't grab and hold on to the damn thing it. So the wave almost took it right back where it came from, except that it keep slipping out of my hand until I got it up to over the sand bank where we grabbed it and got my Catch for the night!! I almost had to dive to get the fish. So needless to say it ened up being a good night all and all. By the way the water was warmer than my pool i wish i had so swim trunks. Beautiful Day yesterday!!

Cool Report guys thanks. I may have to turn over my recognition for catching ShovelNose to Flipper.

Hey Balonie I was out Perching one day and looked down and saw a ShovelNose munching on some Sand Crabs in about a foot of water. I reached down and tail grabbed him - was the only thing I caught all day but I let him go.

Get that leopard guys, try some Mackerel.
