I arrived at the power plant at about <st1:time Minute="30" Hour="12">12:30</st1:time> on Saturday. The plant was on full force, water flowing very warm and steam coming out of the stacks. I throw some squid on and toss out. Within 10 seconds I’m hit! Its a nice size thornback shark.
I bait up and toss out again. I'm hit again instantly, but harder. While fighting this fish I turn around behind me because I hear some noise. I couldn't believe my eyes. I got robbed! A group of seagulls attacked my baitbag! Theyran off with an entire package of squid and a whole large mackrel. There wasn't a whole lot I could do at this point. I have a decent fish on and my bait is being stolen before my eyes. I screamed at them but I could hear them laughing backat me. A few minutes later I finally land this fish. Its a leopard shark about 30 inches long.
I get back up to my stuff and I have not one piece of any bait left. Its all gone. I either have to pack up and leave this awesome bite or try my luck with plastics. I decided to grab my light rod and put on <st1:City><st1

lace></st1:City> rigged Big Hammer perch grub. This was my last resort. I toss and start a slow retrieve. About half way in and I'm hit like a freight train! My drag started peeling my 6 pound test line like a hot knife through butter. There was nothing I could do but hold on. My luck must have been with me because after an hour of battling this fish up and down the beach I finally see it. It’s a very large shovel nose shark. By far the biggest I have ever seen. There was no chance of me dragging this fish to the sand so I have no other choice but to get in the water and try to land this fish. I'm in up to my waist with waves crashing down at me. After a wrestling match with this beast, I finally land it. This shark was overalmost 4feet long and weighted 27 pounds.

By now, I'm totally exhausted so I decide to call some friends down to get in on this good action. I also had them bring me some bait.
Throughout the day, my friends caught several shovel nose and thornbacks. After the big battle, I decided to take a break and just help my friends out since they don't have that much fishing experience. They had a blast and were very glad I calledthem. Towards the end of the day, I decide to take a few more casts with the big hammer grub. I land another nice shovel nose shark.

I personally think that 6 pound testand this lite rod is just not enough. Every time I would hook into one, I got the ride of my life. My arm was jello by time I landed the second one.
The sun was headed down so I decided to call it a day. What seemed to be an awesome day on the beach just changed. I went from being a very happy to one pissed off person! I walked up to my car and this is what I see:

A suggestion to all who fishthis area:
Don’t leave anything valuable in your car. 4 rods and reels, a radar detector, and a digital mp3 player were stolen from my car.
