I am new this board and hope to contribute as much as time allows and very eager to learn new fishing stuff. Well, here is my firstreport (at least, I think its my first report) and hope the info helps. -Sin.

Got out to the beach around 6 this morning with a few friends and met several other fishing buddies on the beach. Started chucking out a Lucky Craft Pointer 128 in the Mackerel Pattern(Big Game Series) from the jetty to the pier with one decent hook-up. The fish was ripping line however, my rod was not bending much and thought my drag was not set right. Then my big goof, I one clicked my drag too much and POP! Fish On, Fish Off. That was the last time I would receive just a decent bite. After casting and winding for another hour, my pals and me decided to give dropshotting a chance and by doing so, it was WFO on tiny to medium illegal sized flatties. I noticed that I received more strikes by adding Pro Cures "Bass Feast" on to the BASS PROSHOPS XPS DROPSHOT "Quiver Minnow." I was fishing with 6# Applaud Metal Lazer Flourocarbon and by switching to this line, received more strikes as well. Light line and scent, usually works for me for these halibut.

Fished until 10 and then called it quits. The water is super clean and very little weed problem. A bunch of "sliders" in the water as well. Sand crab are abundant, trying digging near the rocks of the south side jetty.

Sounds like conditions are much better in your area sinjin. I'm in Ventura and the red tide is killing us up here. Hopefully we get some clean water soon cuz the butt fishing can get good at times (in some areas) around here.

Glad to see you enjoyed yourself and managed to stay bent for most of the day. Too bad about that POPOFF! May have been a legal... oh well, better luck next time.

Thanks for the report and welcome to getbent

Thanks for the welcome fellas. I have noticed there are more anglers here around the Ventura area. A great treat as I do not like to fish south of Los Angeles. I prefer the colder water and plan to hit the surf hard once fall rolls in. Thanks once again.
