5th Street Perch

Did a little surf fishing today. I went to 5th St in Oxnard. Used the Berkly Gulp worms in camo color. I got four perch and lost something bigger (might have been a halibut). I walked from 5th to the power plant and fished for about three hours. The fishing was tough. There were a few other people out today but I did not see them catch much.
I tried the gulp sand crabs in orange with no luck.
Any recommendations on beaches to hit for perch?
Will halibut hit the gulp worm? Or should I be using something else to get them? Thanks for the info.

Forgot to mention that. The water was brown. Later today I went down the coast (south) and I noticed how much bluer the water was aroung Magu Rock.

The gulp worms was the best bet going down 5th street. Not too many halies are caught in that area. I've fished 5th street for many years with my dad and never cought a halie there but who knows? My dad cought a striper bass from surf in front of edison years ago.
