Comments: It was a hot one up in Ojai today, after washing the cars and waxing my wifes I had had it and was hot and tired. Came in and worked on the computer for awhile but it was hot in the house as well as we had no breeze. I went over to the storage unit and got our Swamp Coolers out, brought them home, cleaned them up and got them running to cool things down. Finally figured why not go out and try my luck if the tides looked good. I only brought one rod and reel, a couple of hooks and sinkers and 15 Anchovies. Well the tide looked ok for an outgoing so figured I would give it a shot. First cast and I get hammered, a short fight and it comes unbuttoned (I am afraid it was that legal Halibut I have been waiting for), next I got the ShovelNose which was tiny but feisty, then the SmoothHound which was very strong for its size, small as well at 24”, then came the Barred Surf Perch which was good sized but far from a monster, nice and thick though. Well they all went back in the pool to play and be caught another day. It was great to just get out and relax, smell that salt air and not get skunked. Not super productive but a nice trip none the less.
