Hello Everybody, newbie onboard. I need some help on the driving directions to the Mandalay Power Plant and Oxnard Jetties any parking suggestion.

I justwanted to try other spots and fish other species (mackarel, rock fishes and others), been toMalibu, Port Hueneme and Ventura Pier.Just new on surf fishing, went to Point Dume last Saturday, 23 July 2003 at 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM and tried casting using hi-lo rig and strip squid as bait. Caught 1 perch and Leopard Shark and both of the were released.

Welcome empusa.

The Mandalay Power Plant is also known as the Oxnard Power Plant and is on I believe Harbor Blvd. and is by Harbor and 5th Street. I am just not exactly sure about the street I identified as Harbor - A LITTLE HELP GUYS.

Let us know what direction you are coming from and we can help you out a bit more.

Glad to have you aboard and hope you stick around and give us some reports and share your stories and pics - just jump right in.

"empusa" - you have my interest on the name how about an explanation.

I go by "Sinker" simply because I fish better than I swim - if ya know what I mean.

Thank you for your warm welcome.

I'll be coming from Van Nuys, San Fernando Valley. As for the "empusa" just initials from entertaining many people from USA using films and television programs.

This new hobby is great, love the ocean and also you could bring along your family for fun.

101 Northbound, Exit Victoria, Turn left. Turn right on Olivas Park, Turn Left on Harbor. Follow it down until you see a yellow gate on the right site (Park right there). If you pass the go-cart racing school or the power plant, you've went to far, turn around.

Joey

*Note* Dont leave anything valuable in your car. Mine got broken into, the last time I was there.
