South of Santa Monica Pier 7/3

Well I decided to hit the beach with my mom for my birthday. We got a late start so it was absolutely packed. We drove from Malibu lagoon all the way to a bit past Santa Monica pier to find a parking place. My dad got really sick so it was only my mom and I on this trip. I decided to use a carolina rig, 24" flouro leader, halves of gulp camo worms, gulp watermelon 2" swim mullet, and live lug worms. It was WFO on 5-11" perch from 4-6pm. I also managed 4 baby leopards all under 14". I didn't have my tape measure so i didn't bother writing in the sand for the contest. The leopards were caught on gulp camo worms, and the perch were caught on everything. All fish were released.

Really? that sucks...mine work great. I didn't know if they swam good until i went to Kauai cuz i couldn't see them in our waters, they spin like crazy if you have a good pack. I normally hook them like a swimbait but others hook them through the nose. they swim more freely when you hook em through the nose. ur pack might be defective. I've only had a couple of them with messed up tails in the bag.

Thnks for your bday wishes! I can't wait till i catch a big leopard. I'd deffinately let it go so others may catch it. I wish i brought my tape measure cuz it looks like no1 is catching much of anything off the surf. Hopefully it will warm up.
