Instead of CIH, try arco Island. A great begginer spot and there are fish, unlike CIH.

There's plenty of fish in CIH....just gotta know where to find them. Get a $5 scoop and look for the flatties. But I will have to agree that if you're gonna go through the trouble of getting everything together to go out....might as well fish somewhere other than the harbor...unless conditions and time make it the only option.

I am up for just about anywhere, but CIH is simple and easy (no wetsuit needed). ARCO may be a bit of a launch...wetsuits are a requirement. Will be busy with kid's sports this am (Saturday).

I can make it out sunday if the weather holds up like it is. I'm a newbie too so let get together shunky and try for something. let me know. If I do launch, it will next to the kiddy beach by the coast guard station.
