I'm back now. Beautiful day on the water. Glass all morning. Overcast till about 10. I started outside the breakwater with some Big Hammers and Storm Shad. No love at all. Meanwhile, a 14 ft. aluminum boat with three guys and a bait tank pull up and almost immediately get single and double hookups on livies. I try for a while longer with the plastic, then switch to squirters. Still no love. Then I grab the frozen Sardines I brought just in case. Instant hookup on Cabezon. They just kept biting all morning. I must have caught 30 or more up to about 16 inches. Then I get another bite, but this one comes up half way three times before going back to the rocks. I finally get him up to the 'yak and what do I see? A 24" Ling. That was fun. The bite slowed down about 10, just as the sun poked through. I threw out a sabiki and dragged it around for a while. Got 2 tiny Macks, 3 White perch, and several Smelt. I finally went over to the beach after I ran out of frozen and tried for the flat kind. No love outside and all the way through the harbor on a power drift. All in all it was a good day, as I took off my personal skunk of the past 2 trips. All fish were released unharmed except for the Mackrel (frozen) and smelt (drowned).
