Steve Moyer Memorial Tourney report

I fished the big kayak tournament this morning....La Jolla was off her game today with only about 20 or so yellows weighed for 180 anglers (I got da skunk ). The big winning fish was a nice 29lb yellow hooked in 13 ft of water just off of Blacks Beach by a bloke named Patrick. For those who are not familiar with fishing LJ, this is waaaaaaay off from where the yellowtail are typically fished and obviously shallow for yellows.

Although I had only a skunk for the weigh in, I did feast on a killer seafood jumbalaya (sp?) and amazing fresh carne asada tacos with mango salsa and all the fixings at the BBQ. I also did pretty well in the raffle scoring a Curado and some jigs and a shirt. There were also plenty of Candy Catchers raffled and everyone was stoked to get them. I'll add some photos soon.

This event generated some pretty nice $$ for the American Cancer Society.

Good effort Dan! Even though you took the skunk, you did a good deed. Glad to hear the proceeds went to a great cause.

If you want, you can send me the reel and I'll put it to good use.

AWESOME - I love Charity Events

You guys in the Kayaks blow me away - I had always been amazed at your launches and landings. Now with the addition of the forum though I am more amazed with your catches and stories.

Anxiously awaiting the pics too.

Too bad about the skunk, Dan. I hope you don't feel too bad, though. You have done very well in the past, including your lunch break antics!

Dan,

Ya, sorry about the skunk, but you did pretty good otherwise (and I know you had fun). I sure do get spoiled by your reports that's for sure and always look forward to them. Thanks for sharing it all with us.
