David, try(ha I think you could walk there from your place) to get down to Channel Islands Kayak center and tell them you want to demo a t-120 and a Malibu Pro Explorer and see what you like. Paddle the t-120 first though. The width of the pro ex may lull you into thinking it's a better yak.

Ok...thanks for the advice. The only bummer is that I haven't seen a used T-140. I'm only 150 lbs so you think the 120 would be sufficient? Also, I really want to buy one this weekend, so I'm not sure If Ill have the time to demo one, although you are right about that being the best way to find out. Hooked on Kayaks in Seal beach has a bunch of Malibu Yaks for sale. I can get the Navigator at a really good deal in MDR, and the T-120 is being sold by a private individual. Unless you guys know any one selling a good used Kayak.

Make time to demo before you buy bro. There is always a good deal out there. It would bite to find out you dont like the boat after you already spent the money. Im sure most will agree. Call Taylor Tackle in Canoga Park(ask for Len), I believe he has a few demos and blemished yaks at a good price. I got a great deal from him.

The cobra Marauder is said to be better than the fish n' dive, faster.

Demo

I was a kayak virgin when I started. I listened to what these guys said about the demo. Originaly I was looking at the Drifter or FnD. I ended up buying a P15, couldn't be happier with my choice. Listen to MJ he definately steered my right.

Yeah I've listened to M.J. alot. He's inspired me alot this year. I'm constantly amazed at what him and Thresher can do from the shore.
