I have an Explorer. It weighs only 40 pounds stripped of gear and hatch covers. I got it so I can easily lift it when transporting.

Both the Navigator and Explorer are tippy. This is because the seating position is too high. It's since been redesigned for 2007.

If youre buying a used yak, its hard to beat both for value. I got mine for $ 200 almost new. I'm learning on it, drilling holes with absolutely no care in the world and having fun

As for buying a new one, I'd look for better design. Ive seen Jeff's Prowler 13. If I wasnt trying to get a pedaling yak, that is what I'd get. A wet ride has its advantages in high wind.

Try before you buy Bing. I have a Mirage Sport single and it has a lot of room for improvement. It may be on the market soon.

Hobie just released the Revolution, which I have my eye on. Its either that or the Adventure. It all depends on the test drive, when I actually have the money together. Ive really set my heart on trolling the malibu coast line for fish and exercise. Paddling just doesnt get me the range that would be ideal. I'd really like to do 10 mile round trips with barely breaking a sweat. And the ability to fight strong winds if need be.
