Matrix 17

Saw a Matrix 17 on ebay with a 12 channel gps receiver for around 150.oo is this a good deal? Or how about if i had the Garmin GPS 60csx and installed a fish finder with that gps and if so what FF would you recommend with that unit? Any advice would be helpful i am trying to rig up a brand new x-factor and dont want any mistakes (well atleast try to minimize them) Thanks Jason

Me I would go with the Garmin but I don't know anything about the Matrix unit. I did find it for around 150 new but it says GPS capable so not sure if it standard or just a sounder that you need other stuff to make it a GPS too. Hummingbird is a good company I have a piranha 50 that has been though hell and still works.

i just bought the 12. are you thinking of mounting it on your yak? it would make a great FF but i dont think you'll be yaking in 1000'. but for the price i'd buy it. the gps is not standard. i do like the quick release feature on the matrix as well as how the unit plugs in. it seem to shield it a bit better from water. i still need to get a hand held gps unit but for now a compass works

ODH33 is right the GPS doesn't come with it but they are not that expensive. Dan, get the older GPS unit works fine and lets you mark spots on your finder. Yes the quick disconnect is very good and Huminbird service is excellent.

This Matrix 17 does come with a 12 channel gps receiver but i still plan on running my GPS Garmin seperately so just thinking that the 150.00 price was still good even without the gps receiver that it comes with.

Ya I found the GPS receiver for another $120. I would say it is a good deal at both for $150.
