La Jolla 8/14 - Tackle for Yellows?

We'll be in San Diego 8/13-15, and will probably fish La Jolla and the bay.

I think it's time we tried for the yellows, but I have no tackle for such. I want to keep it simple and inexpensive, since we probably won't go for yellows more than a couple of times a year.

What's a reasonably priced rod/reel combo and where can I get 2 set-ups within a week?

LOL just what I was thinking Spook or they have the same combo but a 113 at Sports chalet and authority for about 130 or so. Never did see a price but every thing else was about that. Good luck.

Thanks Al, Dan and Carn. I missed the Big 5 sale by a day, but they still gave me the sale price. Picked up 2 Sabre/Jigmaster combos for $90 each. Now to get them spooled up!

perfect combo. i use that setup all the time. 25-30# Big Game -> 3 feet of 25#/30# flouro connected by a Seaguar knot to a 2/0 ringed owner circle hook with a flashy greenback....bring a gaff.

PM me just before and I'll give you a hint where they're at....

Right on!! Big 5 is usually pretty good honoring the sale prices a few days after it ends!! It's funny cause the sale is usually every other week or so.
