Lange Original Rack????

So, Shannon and I are going to invest in a couple of kayaks to fish from this winter prior to our spring season. Th search has been very helpful as to what type of yak we want and I know of a place we can test em out prior to purchase as well.
So, my delema, two kayaks, one 2001 Jeep Wrangler with a soft top. I was looking at my Quadtratec catalog last night and they have what they call the Lange Original Rack and you can add the large kayak mount to fit two yaks.
Has anyone tried this rack before? Looks like for less then 600.00 I would have a nice yak hauler, but for another 150.00, I could get a full cargo rack for the jeep then add Yakima mounts.
Any thoughts?

Tom

That rack looks a bit rough to get the yaks on top. I carry mine flat with rollers in the back for loading when carrying sunny side up.

I also made a trailer for hauling them and that way you can put all your goodies in the trailer not the Jeep. Downside is parking in some places.

Hi Tom! if you have a receiver hitch on your jeep, yakima makes a rack bracket that plugs into it than all you would need is a front piece, btw REI is having a sale on all yakima racks and acc. until this Sunday you could check on yakima .com for proper fit... good luck.....H

Can you shoot me alink on the hitch bracket? I do have a 2" hitch and could probably just spend like 150.00 for a front top light bar and have that work.

Thats Herbo,
i am now re-thinking my thoughts and may just bite the bullet and get a full roof top cage system. that way it will at least multi-task.
I saw one that pivots back to remove the soft top and you can make a canopy out of it.
