Hey Baja,
I think it is what ever is sensible, and depends on the conditions. If you're launching in the summer on a sandy beach, just a PFD and bathing suit is fine. At Black's Beach, just a PFD.
If you're launching in the winter and fishing near jetties or rocks, I suggest everything: wetsuit, helmet, PFD. The PFD will protect your ribs in case of a rock landing. You'd be surprised how fast the rocks come up on you when you're preoccupied landing a fish.
I always have a radio and cell phone. Even with all this, sh*t happens, but at least you're prepared.

You have my number, feel free to call me ANYTIME, I will be more than happy to tell you what I know. Also, I will want to go hit the yak fishing with you, for sure.
I will look for the FF/Chartplotter manual and get it sent to you ASAP.
Good luck, welcome to the club!!!!

Thanks guys, Yeah okay, I get the message, no birthday suit...darn-it! I have a co2 type around the collar, shoulder pfd, are they okay? I went to town today and started looking for a spring wet suit and found one for 60 bucks new. It's a body glove make. I was also looking at anchors, which is the best type and how heavy?. How about nets and gaffs? I was even thing about installing a CD player with speakers. OOh also trying to find a yak pull cart. Where canI find the best deal amd make. I might make that feb 25 fishing yak trip. Thanks again Team!
