Rhyno, are you going to show him that stand up spin move in high surf trick, or just show him the basics. Ha Ha. Really just injoy your self and be safe. I hear alot of great things about Rhyno and with his experience he will show you all the good thing. I had to learn the hard way, no one to show me the ropes. My first time in the ocean, it was high surf and I came in side way's. I'll leave it at that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No advanced yak tricks on the mans maiden voyage. LOL. We will see how the weather holds up. Should have a little window to go goof off in the harbor. Light line, little live bait and some plastics, we should be fine. Now if you want those advanced move like Big-D mentioned, join me on one of my surf clinics. We go over that and more wild moves in that clininc! TL Rhyno

No report on this weekend. I rescheduled for a better chance at some action. Post storm fishing in my experience is slow at best, and rarely do I get into the water following a rain for runoff concerns. So we will continue the hazing, and no let up! I have never had anyone drown on me, and you wont be the first,so dont even think about it! TL Rhyno

Yep, I didn't go after all either, this weekend. Too cloudy, windy and generally brown water. I'll wait for the opportunity to avail itself.

I was down in LJ over the weekend for nothing. As one said to me before, the 3rd day after the rain is usually good fishing. Never right after.

Good luck on learning the kayak. I'm still a rookie in the ocean. I've only had the yak on the ocean one time. Made it out past the breakers dry with Yaksailor's and Fishersdad's help but the same cannot be said about the trip back in. Damn waves will turn you sideways in a hurry. That's why I'm kinda waiting for a little warmer water to practice in. Us rookies can hang out and fish together sometime.

For the new guys or guys thinking about joining the tupperware party:

One thing that helps more than anything else is time on the water getting used to the yak and various conditions....a little wind in the harbor is a good way to see just how you can handle it and to see how the yak behaves in those condtions...with the safety of being in the harbor.
I'd say I get out at least 3 days a week even if not fishing. Alot of the time my kids just want to get out there and paddle around. My youngest 2 boys at 5 and 7yrs old now have amazing confidence on the water and dont even sweat a trip around the breakwall in chop, or dangling arms and legs over the side every chance they get.
If you dont have a yak or have zero time on the water...a meager $12 across the way from Capt. Hooks will get you on a yak for an hour with everything you need to give it a shot. No worries, and only a few bucks well spent on what may turn into a way to further compliment your fishing addiction.
