They're very good to eat! Just need to get those guts out, chilled, and steaked ASAP.
No paddling around with a dead shark on deck for hours...no hanging them on the swimstep all day to show off your "kill."
Not that anyone here would do that...it's just that the taste can be bad if not prepped properly.

YES DEFINITELY bleed them then after about 10 minutes gut them and groove the back bone from the stomach area and get the blood and spinal fluid out. I head them too but that isn't as important. Ice if you can but keep as cool as you can and this goes for ALL sharks and rays.

Good info guys, MJ, looks like you are ready for action!

The Tshark I've eaten was pretty decent, I think that mostly I don't care for shark because I hope it wouldn't care for me.....being a butt boater and a surfer puts me in their domain pretty often, and if Mr. T went and told his uncle whitey that I ate Mrs. T, i'd screwed

Here I am. So if you mouth hook em with bait just cut the hook close. Mouth hook with a jig, take your time, try to get the jig back, you may have to cut out here to and loose the jig, same with a tail hooked shark. I always try to get my lures/jigs back if possible. I bleed them as soon as I know they are going home for the BBQ. I usually have em gut and gilled before they hit the truck. First stop is a store with ice to pack in the gut cavity and over the body. I steak and finish processing the shark after it has chilled for a few hours. Need more? TL Rhyno
