wow. where to start. There are many many kayaks that are great for fishing. Get down to your local paddle shop at one of the harbors and try a few out. If you're not willing to do that, get a used one off of craigs list or off one of the other kayak boards.

I (we) could offer you much more info if we knew a bit more about you, such as your size, ocean/fishing experience, type of fishing you want to do etc...

Yep, Danimal is right. Things like, how far do you want to paddle and how stable of a kayak do you want. Just remember that the longer and narrower the kayak is, the faster and easier it is to paddle but can be a little tippy. The opposite is true of a wider kayak which will be much more stable. I prefer to fish off a more stable platform myself, but that's just me. Like Danimal said, head over to one of the harbors and try out a few kayaks. There's a good place in Channel Islands Harbor right next to Capt. Hooks Sportfishing that rents kayaks. They'll usually let you paddle a few different models to see what you like. Give it a try and you'll love it.

Mark, do your research before buying. Also, rent several times to see if you even enjoy being on a yak.

I always have to point this one out...but if you wanna save a little $$$ dont rent....ask to DEMO! Although for your first time out renting one for an hour($12) will give a bit of experience first before trying the different models.
Channel Islands kayak center now has a few kayaks in their rental fleet with rodholders..so bring your license, rod, and a few lures to really try it out. Or better yet...hookup with Rhyno for an all inclusive professional foray into kayak fishing.

Hey Mark!! Dont make the same mistake that I did, thats buy a kayak without doing alot of research and DEMO tests. I thought I knew what I wanted, which turned out to be all wrong, but the salesmen didnt sell Fish n Dives-just Hobies. Read up on them, talk to kayakers, and DEMO rides. If you are interested in trying a Hobie outback foot powered kayak I have one that I would gladly meet with you at the marina and let you try out. As it turned out this wasnt the right one for me, I need the big mans Fish n Dive. Good luck with your decision. Cali Bear

Genaro, that's exactly the boat I recommended to him via PM. I have one in my fleet, and offered it up for a session already.
