Remaining alert while on the water is always a good idea. Noticing your surroundings durring fishing will help keep you safe from what ever might want to take your prized catch. That old Power Aid commercial with the killer whale landing on the kayaker is in the same lines as the Mountain Dew commercial where the surfer gets engulfed by the whale just cause he is doing the dew. Stuff is funny, but not what happens out there. Stay safe and dont belive all this hype, unless you want to join me and chase sharks from the kayak. Maybe we should hit the Farallons or Guadalupe for a yak/ shark encounter trip. Then you could have some real shots of whites bummping our yaks and catch our expressions then! Any takers? See you on the water. TL Rhyno

Dude I got you on video with a lure in your chin. Then you bear down and cut it off. Not to sure I could hang with you.

Rhyno does bring up a very good and often over looked point. Remain alert and be prepared. I wonder how many of our private boaters have an EPIRB on board that is PROPERLY registered - if it's not it could very well be useless.

Speaking of EPIRB's do any of you kayakers carry personal EPIRB's

Hear in Florida recently we have had a few incidents that EPRIB's have been life savers with the Coast Guard showing up in under two hours way offshore. Another guy was lucky as he did not properly register his EPIRB and it took 36 hours for the Coast Guard to even respond, they found him but not in good shape.

I know this isn't the boat forum but if you guys are spending 100K on a boat or better, 50K on electronics and a few more K on fishing equipment why not another 2 to 4 K to save your life if something happens.....

Sorry about that.

I've got that episode of insidesportfishing on DVD. I think Rhyno was on the episode but it was another guy who ends up taking the CD14 rapala in the chin. Narly stuff! If I remember correctly Rhyno ends up putting a 80 lb thresher on his lap while on the yak.

Kent - your more than welcome to borrow the copy that I have.

Yes my good friend Tommy Bolger was the largest ever kayak landed human. He is still the record today! Now the Thresher lap dance is a little better than the Marlin lap dance, you get more tail with the Thresher!!!
