Rigging My Kayak

I started to set up my kayak. i now have some of the basics and ready to fish. it still need some work so this will be an ongoing project.

Kayak: Ocean Drifter

here it is before i started.

the parts i picked up during the week and today

the first thing i did was install 2 scotty rod holders i bought the power locking ones. it was very easy to do. in the pics aboove you can see the rod holder mounts on the rhyno bar. i took off the mounts they came on the rod holders and attached the rod holders to the existing mounts total time 5 mins.

next i attached the paddle leash to the yak. at the same time i glued/screwed in the paddle holders. i used the large size rod holders see pic above.

i drilled 2 9/64 holes one for each paddle holder. coated the bottom of the rod holders and screwed them in. this took me about 15 mins to do

i used 2 more large rod holders for the gaff. so the drilling was the same. glueing same. total time 10 mins

i then installed a richie compass. originally i was going to buy a deck mount compass but they did not have the one i was looking for so i bought a different one. i think it may work ot better for me anyways. i get home open up the package and they only give you two sided tape. i find 2 lil screw and get to work total time 10 mintues

here is a pic from the seat. you can see the compass my VHFand the rod holders with rods in them

so far i am ready for some fishing but i still have some stuff to do. I'll work on it again real soon.

Awsome, Dan! You even have the measuring tape on the the side of the yak! I've got to get one of those. You'll look like a veteran yakker out there today. Little will they know!!

P.S. 1:18 am? Hope you wake up this morning!

That is a great job Dan but like cars and boats and houses they are a never ending job to set up the way you like. That is part of the fun though.
