New Yak To Be Rigged

Well I did it, pick up my Prowler 15 Wed., I can use all the help I can get rigging it up. Built a rack for my truck to get it home but need ideas (low cost) like the goalpost rack. All the suggestions will be greatly appreciated. MJ- thanks again youv'e been a huge help in selecting the right yak for me.

Congradulations!!! One more yakker in the mix. The prowler 15 is a great kayak. I just throw mine in the back of the truck and let it stick out with a flag on it but the prowler is longer than mine. Hopefully the guys with larger yaks can help with the rack question. As far as rigging, you'll obviously want rod holders if you don't have them already, a rhynobar is a plus, high back seat for comfort, paddle and rod leashes, landing net (at least 18"), rope (tying off to kelp), milk crates work great for storage behind the seat if you aren't using a live bait tank, and a game clip is optional but can really come in handy if you land a big fish. Sounds like a lot but it's all standard stuff. Hope this helps.

$40k truck and you want a "low cost" rack!
If you're like me you dont want your truck to look like a work truck with a permanent rack. I built a wood rack for my Prerunner a few years ago. I just slip it in the stake pockets then toss the yak(s) on top.
Cheap, easy, and removeable.

As for your rigging...take your time to figure out just what you need and where before making any holes. Look at alot of other yaks to see just where and what people have gone with. Plenty of rigged up P-15's out there to boggle your mind. Above all...and I cant emphasize this enough...keep it simple to start out. No need to burden yourself with too many things....thus taking the fun and ease out of why fishing off the yak is so much fun.
Chung and I will be out and about at CI Harbor manana...what time are you picking up the new ride?

Got in a quick couple hours of fishing...I swear if I see another legal halibut caught near me!!!!!! Lots of yaks out fishing the harbor today..all I managed was nicely raked baits from the right kind...couldnt even get a short to stick. Big bait from CI Sportfishing...90% deans...and god could somebody get the $5 Kayak Scoop into their heads!!!!!! Every other bait receiver on the coast gets it....just not here! Rant off....bottom line..Chung nailed yet another nice legal butt.
Packed up and headed over to see Mark over at the Kayak Center....just missed him as he was out paddling his new ride.
Intercepted him on the water.....looks like a happy camper to me!!
