Thule or Yakima

Ok so I broke one of the cross pieces on my factory roof rack for my car a few weekends ago.

I am contemplating a couple options:

1. Buy the factory replacement part
2. Upgrade per se to a new rack (Yakima or Thule) that will integrate with my existing rack.

The cheapest option by far is to just get the replacement part for the rack. But that means I can really only have one yak on the roof. If I go with the Thule or Yakima way, I figure I can get longer cross bars and it will give me the option of having two yaks up top.

Anybody have experience with either Yakima or Thule? Pros, cons?

I'm in no real rush since I am still sidelined.

I have all Yakima stuff, and haven't been disappointed. I found that the Shark Saddles are the way to go for roto-molded yaks. The Hulley Rollers tend to dent the yak, especially when it's warm. The Mako saddles also dent the yak. I've easily sold my used yakima stuff on Ebay.

I've had both, and I prefer the Yakima. Sturdy stuff, and tons of options and accessories. Mine are almost 25 years old and going strong.
