I wanted to let everyone know what a fun reel the SX 6/4 mc raptor is. Went on a 2 day trip to Mexico that my wife gave me for my birthday and picked up the Raptor before going out on the Pacific Dawn. I had this idea to put it on a 20/40 jig stick. Glad I did. I was lucky the Avet Pro Staffer Ben Frazier on the boat and help me get the reel all set up. It is loaded with 65# spectra and 40# flora leader and worked real well. Caught tuna, yellow tail and darado with noththing over 20# and had no problems at all.The best buy I've made yet. Other then the two poles Flipper made me.

That Raptor is pretty cool. I was at Avet Yesterday, the owner was showing me how it worked.

Ben is an A+ Straight up Guy.......whether the sx or hx...He said these raptors are tough

He recently helped me out at Erics Tackle on a problem i was having.... He eas there as a client....Asked..."Mind if I take a look? Im Ben from Avet........" I said sure.....

    10 min later...Done....N/C....on my way.....

    and.......yesterday 11/24/09

Ben Frazier fished aboard Mike Keating's Spirit of Adventure with the owner on a ten-day trip, the Big Jim Charter, and got his first 300-pound tuna with a new Seeker 2 x 4 rod and an Avet HX Raptor reel. Ben reps for both companies, and after the boat docked at fast-disappearing H&M Landing (it's under demolition and reconstruction) November 24, he got his monster weighed in at 300.1 pounds.

Frazier, who lives in Oxnard, said he used a sardine on a ringed 4/0 Super Mutu hook tied to 100-pound Maxima fluorocarbon and 100-pound Line One Spectra. The fight lasted two hours, and he said there was nothing special about it, just a fight with a big tuna. It won the jackpot, and there were 15 tuna over 200 pounds in the catch.

The SX Raptor is $439.99. It's an awesome little reel. It took it on a 5.5 day trip and fished Cedro's and offshore and I was able to really put the wood on 2 or 3 yellowfin up to 40 pounds. 65# spectra and a short flouro topshot of 50# and I was just dragging them in, not giving them an inch of line.

I was at the Avet factory the other day to get my Avet reel service, and was having a factory tour with one of the staff. He'd told me that the Raptor give out twice the amount of drag as the regular Avet.

He also told me that one of the staff caught a 125lbs tuna with the Avet Raptor SX..

    just something for note...that's all.
