Went looking for a new jig stick today! Went to Just Fishin' by Pete in Redondo Beach to get some advice.I wanted a new SS Ulua. He pulled down on one with me at the helm and nearly launched me! I am 6'/190 and it was too much rod for me.He suggested a Calstar 850M. I went to Baja Fish Gear in Lomita and Sam showed me the GG 100j! I am a Seeker/Shimano guy so it was a hard mental battle. I bought it and put my Trinidad 20 (65# spectra-40# Silver Thread top shot).Casted into this just joking wind and went about 50 yards! Same as my old setup without the wind! Tossed it down the beach w/out wind and went way past my 55 yard top shot leader! I don't know if this is the best jigstick ever, but is the best I have had so far!
As for The 850M, I am having one wrapped anyway! Can't have too many clubs in the bag!
    Happy New Year to all!!!

No, but she can use whatever I have. She usually uses a Calcutta 400s with a Calcutta 820xf .I removed the trigger and replaced it with cork tape.

Its a beater! Fishes great though. I always tell her, "Whatever you do, don't let go of the pole!" The Barracuda in my avatar she caught using a Butterfly jig with a Trinidad 14 and trevala! I'm a proud daddy!:)

I haven't caught anything on it yet. Waitin' for the paddy hoppin'! It is pretty light and a little more giving than an Ulua. I really wanted a Seeker, but it was too much rod for me.
Loads up great! And yes it is factory wrapped. Call Sam @ Baja Fish Gear. He is an Iron Slingin' wiz! He'll set you up!

Sweet...Very nice distance, indeed. However, I would say that it's you who can cast and not the rod. It's all about skill.
