We rolled at 9 with Capt Scott, 2nd Vinny, Rob,Matt,Tad on deck,
and Buddy making great food in the galley all trip. After loading a
big load of hot dines, few macks, we tied up with wind 18-20, then
left for the 43 about 1am arriving just before sunrise. Game on.

We started dropping down to metered big bluefin 300-400ft with
Tady9 blue/chrome, flat falls, glow butterfly jigs, the tackle store
but all had lockjaw. OK SHORT STORY. it was hit or miss all day,
even though we metered MANY a school of big bluefin and
yellowfin tuna, one here, one there, and many lost, epic battles.
We ended up with 19 bluefin, 17 yellowfin, 1 marlin-released.
Birthday "boy" Norm Engle got a PB 75lb Yellowfin, as did ex-Dodger,
Angel, Philly pitcher Kevin Gross a PB about 80lbs! Others too.

Tackle=forget 30lb or less, leave it at home. We used mostly 40-50
and most battles lasted 1-2+ hours. These fish are brutes. Don't bring
a pea shooter to a lion hunt! LOL Ringed or regular Owner 2/0-3/0
circle hooks worked best. We tried 60 but few if any biters. A 2oz
slider or 2-5oz torpedo with a rubber band worked best, although we
flylined in the YF semi-ripper at sunset, hooking maybe 20 for 8 decked.

All in all a long hot day, and 34 veteran anglers gave it our all.
Some won, some lost, and many joined the O-fer club trying.
THANKS to Scott and the whole crew for another wild day on CONDOR.
See you again in a few weeks maybe, I need a serious time out now. LOL
HERE's a few pics and some very tired happy anglers and their fish.

Thanks all, NOW the big bluefin and yellowfin have move off the 43 to the
Canyon off Pyramid Head at San Clemente Island. Even the Newport, Long Beach,
LA/San Pedro boats are scoring some. GOOD LUCK to everyone out fishing soon! LOL
