It's been a long time since I've posted anything, so bear with me and any errors. We were told before leaving the harbor, that they have spent the last 2 days contentiously trying to stay in front of the seals, in my mind that means we're going to be up against some tough conditions. We did have a beautiful ride out with our colors flying high, talking about seals and the next space explorations, with an amazing sunrise and landed in Chinese Harbor where we started hunting for yellow tail. One gentleman got a huge one, probably approx. 30 lbs. This is one happy man and he didn't even know that he won the jackpot yet! The biting was slow throughout the day, but Captain Shawn and his new little buddy 'Chowder', always kept us on top of something or moved pretty quickly to another bite. Despite the slowness, I was lucky enough starting out getting a little brown bass. Quite a few were getting lings and I was SO jealous! Then, I was reeling up this fighter and I thought 'Cool, I got me a ling cod!' Yeah, NO, I got me a thresher! My first! The crew estimated it at 100 lbs and I was so excited that I screamed I think I blew out Ana's ear. Oops - sorry Ana. My thrill was only about 20 minutes long when Joker not only brought up one that was approx. 160 lbs., but he caught it by the fin making it that much more difficult. I'm sorry I don't know the gentleman's name that won jackpot with his yellow tail. I think it was Ron, and it was only his 2nd time out. I'm very happy for him. (Although he didn't scream like I did.) Great trip again with old friends and new and everyone went home with some shark. Thank you to Captain Shawn, and a wonderful crew, Alex, Gage, and Ana. Thank you to Jennifer Ladyluck for putting this one together.
