Next day we teed up with a local bloke to take him wicked boat out 80mile to a gas platform.
We all chiped in for bait/fuel etc and headed out. I was a bit worried that i would get sick but after having some travel calm i turned out to be fine

On the way out we headed out between the islands and stopped at 1 particular island to take some pics.....

Also on the way out we noticed lots of ore ships anchored up for the cyclone. It made for some great pics.......

Ended up at our spot and First drop i hooked up this fish below.....

Not sure what it is
Second drop i hooked this fish, think it is a tomato cod....
I struggled hard for the rest of the boat trip to land any notable fish. I did hook up onto a HUGE THUMPER! But ended up spitting the hook
Kristian caught a very nice rankin cod...

Golden ponds is a place where thats 62 man made lakes, they stock trout and other fish you pay $10 to go catch
Got down there and bought some tinned corn, some pellets and walked to the pond behind the shop where you pay. I couldnt belive my eyes! Some real big rainbow trout in there.
I tryed puttint the pellets on the hook but they were tiny round hard things and wouldnt go on the hook and kept braking.
I tryed the corn but the trout were very cautious! They would come up for a look but swim awaywithout taking it.
I came up with a idea of flicking it out an jigging it like a insect through the water alost like a lure and sure enough thats what they liked. Caught 5 and kept 3 .
All in all a good day out!

i caught my first Dhuie!!!! Just scratchin 9kg 8)
I also landed 2 nice pinkies
Now for the funny part, guess what bait i was using????????
    Strips of rainbow trout!!!!!
I had 1 left over from golden pond and i chucked in in the freezer to use for bait.
In the pics you can see the occy on the top hook but the botton hook had the rainbow trout on it and was the only hook out of the 2 that the fish would touch
Might have to go back to golden ponds and get some more trout
Bodie got a snapper and a shark of some decription. I had a solid hookup on a freight train. I managed to get some line back before it spat the hook but it was HUGE!!!!
Here are some pics of the dhuie...
    (Thanks Bodie, great pic)

    Steep point 2008

Well i just got back from my trip ,
This time i went up there with some "soft cocks" To scared to fish from the cliffs. Instead they wanted to camp on the beach and take a small boat up.

We left for the 13 hour drive at 4.00pm tuedsay and arrived at the location 14 hours later due to getting bogged on some of the hardcore fourwheel driving sections.

Once there we headed out in the dingy and trolled lures with no luck. We then bottom bounced for till sundown. We all landed nice pink snapper.
Pretty much snapper and blue lined emperor foir the rest of the trip.

Heres some pics i did :)

Just a couple pics of my trip to shelter bay. More pics to come and with good fish in them :)
